Sit on the Moistened Chair
Installation, 2020, imprint of a folded chair on concrete, watering pipe, woods, variable dimension
This sculptural work included an imprint of a folded chair on a cast concrete measuring around 100x80cm and a 7m long garden hose. The figure of a chair, which symbolizes an absence or an upcoming presence, was no longer the support of weight that it affords but became part of the concrete, the foundation of modern architecture. In addition, the wetted surface of the sculpture and the watering pipe next to it added delicate tension between their fusion, another echo toward the base elements of architecture and body needs: water and its channels.
Just as the title implies the possibility of narrative interpretation, the combination of these materials attempts to provide a new way to approach the similarities and connections between furniture, architectural spaces, and the human body.
