Checkers Chairs, as the title suggests, it’s more or less a game of chess, while it’s played on the chair. Yet it is not a question of making an illustrative representation of this idea. The intention is to represent a metaphor of the consequence of fighting that is governed by the rules hidden in social activities. This performance intends to question the indications and the informal obligations that exist in all different cultures. Confrontation, strategy, cooperation ... these similarities between social conversations and social games is the inspiration of this performance. The rules were written on the chair to introduce this game, and performers react voluntarily to them.
